Sea Water Series

To meet the demand for ultra-high corrosion resistance bolts for use in coastal areas we have introduced a new sea water series.
Designed in conjunction with some of the leading specialists in this field these are manufactured from the highest quality corrosion resistant stainless steel we can source, 1.4462 duplex stainless steel, passivated and then all exposed parts polished.
This grade of steel is recommended as having the highest corrosion resistance in a marine environment combined with industrial pollution by the German Stainless Steel Information Centre among others.
The design and manufacturing quality control processes include using only works certified material tested to conform to ISO 3651-2 for intercrystaline corrosion, batch high resolution photography to check for flaws and in the design phase examination by electron microscope for intercrystaline fractures created during forming.

More on corrosion can be found on our website in the general bolting infomation pages.

This level of quality and the additional processes are of nescessity not cheap, with the raw material cost alone being six times that of the normal grades of stainless. The shortage of this grade on the world market means also we are forced to use 8mm material, nearly doubling the material costs again against our stock 6mm bolts.
By producing only a limited range we have still managed to keep the price down to a reasonable level, certainly for bolt of this quality.

A conservative estimate for the life of these bolts is 50 years.

We recommend using an epoxyacrylate glue for these bolts in a coastal environment, these glues have a lower rate of water absorbtion and a longer life in damp conditions

8mm Rod Protection Bolt - Sea Water Series

With a different eye design to reduce bend stress in production these bolts are the highest quality bolt on the market and with a tested breaking strain of over 100kN almost certainly the strongest

.
Polished eye for enhanced corrosion protection.
24mm internal eye diameter.
Breaking Strain-100kN
EN959. UNS31803. 1.4462 Stainless Steel 16mm dia. hole.
Available from stock in three sizes:-

Lower-off - Sea Water Series

At the moment we only offer as a lower-off our pigtail design in 1.4462 stainless and in 10mm bar. Subject to demand we may in the future produce our Monster Hook in this material.
A classic amongst lower-offs, easy to use, safe and readily replaceable.
Fit over any of our bolts or hangers or your existing bolt.
Completely polished for enhanced corrosion resistance.
We do not recommend welding these in place as welds can be a source of corrosion.

(10mm shown fitted to 8mm standard bolt)
